M. J. Khan was elected to Houston City Council District F in December 2003 on the platform of improving the quality of life one Houstonian at a time!
M.J. has a long record of community service. He served as President of Islamic Society of Greater Houston and President of the Pakistan American Association of Greater Houston. He also served on the Small Business Advisory Board of the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission. Currently M. J. is a member of the Sharpstown Civic Association and the Alief Lions Club in the heart of District F. He has been honored by the City of Houston, Black Heritage Society and numerous organizations for his leadership and service to the community. |

M.J. Khan is a living example of the American Dream. He attended the University of Illinois where he earned a Masters degree in civil engineering and a MBA at Rice University. Currently, M.J. is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas and the president of MAK Development, Inc., a real estate development company here in Houston.
M.J. has been married for 29 years to Dr. Attiya Khan, a renowned Cardiologist in Houston and the first female cardiology fellow at the Texas Heart Institute. Together, he and his wife have one son, Faroz, who currently attends Texas A&M University Medical School.
M.J. has pledged to be a full time city council member. He is working tirelessly to address citizen complaints and concerns and has pledged to make this process more efficient. Specifically, M. J. is focusing on capital improvement projects in District F. CIP dollars determine the amount and level of infrastructure improvements throughout the City of Houston. The CIP allocates tax dollars for street and sidewalk repairs, recreational development, traffic improvements, library and park upkeep renovation and expansion, and infrastructure for drainage and flood control. In addition to focusing on capital improvement projects in District F, the Council Member currently serves on the following City Council Committees:
